This policy explains what information GiftPlume.com (“GiftPlume”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the site, why, and the choices you have. We keep it as short as we can.
The short version
- You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name or address to use any tool.
- Your Gift Finder answers, saved ideas and hidden ideas stay in your own browser.
- Analytics run only if you agree in the cookie notice. No ads run yet.
- We do not sell your personal information.
What stays in your browser
The Gift Finder keeps your answers in the page address (the part after the # sign), which is not sent to our server. Ideas you save are stored in your browser’s local storage under “gp_list”, and ideas you hide under “gp_hidden”. Quiz answers are kept in session storage and are cleared when you close the tab. Your cookie choice is stored in local storage under “gp_consent”. You can clear all of this at any time in your browser settings.
What our server receives
Like any website, our hosting server receives technical information when your browser asks for a page: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, the browser and device type and the referring page. These logs are used to keep the site secure and working, and are kept for a limited time by our host.
Analytics
If you accept analytics in the cookie notice, we load Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are useful. It sets cookies and receives data such as the pages you view, an approximate location based on your IP address and device information. IP anonymization is turned on. If you do not accept, the analytics script is not loaded. Google’s own policy explains how it handles this data.
Advertising
GiftPlume does not show ads at the moment. If we add them, the advertising option in the cookie notice will control whether ad partners may use cookies for personalized ads, and this policy will be updated first.
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to answer you and keep the message as long as needed for that.
Sharing
We share information only with the service providers that run the site (hosting and, if you allow it, analytics), when the law requires it, or to protect the site and its users. We do not sell or rent personal information.
Your choices and rights
You can change your cookie choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” button at the bottom left of every page. Depending on where you live, including California and the European Economic Area, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to its use. Write to contact@giftplume.com and we will answer within the time the law allows.
Children
GiftPlume is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Big changes will be noted on the home page for a while.
